Florida Realtors® Oil Spill Info Center

RAMDC Members,

Many of you have asked what the Realtor® Organization is doing to address the numerous problems being created by the Gulf Of Mexico Oil spill.  The information below was provided by the Florida Realtors® President.    Please make it a point to keep the website created for updating purposes handy.  This will enable you to go to the website at any time and receive the most updated Realtor® information.

MESSAGE TO FLORIDA REALTORS

As we Floridians face the still evolving effects of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, I wanted to let you know that my Leadership Team and I are dedicated to taking all reasonable steps to support our members and associations during this disaster. Obviously, that support may take different forms as events proceed.  The foundation to preparation and response, at this point, is knowledge. Therefore, I have asked Florida Realtors Management Team to identify and compile a number of resources. These information resources are housed on a dedicated web page which will be updated on a regular basis. Initial items posted on this page include:

  • A Question and Answer piece from Florida Realtors attorneys dealing with common legal issues caused by the spill (to be posted early next week)
  • A robust, comprehensive listing of state and federal government agencies and programs which might be able to provide assistance, including contact information
  • Information about how to file damage claims with BP
  • Additional non-governmental resources

In addition, we will be discussing with the Florida Realtors Disaster Relief Foundation Trustees what role, if any, they and the comparable NAR organization may play.

In tough times Realtors stand together and support each other. Please know that your state Leadership Team is accessible and deeply concerned. As always, feel free to contact any of us with your ideas, suggestions and requests at any time.
